First shown at the Salone del Mobile in April 2016, the SmartSlab was designed by Kram/Weisshaar, a duo from Stockholm, and it miraculously squeezes heating and cooling units, inductive cooking and charging modules, and wireless transponders and antennas into its sleek and modern design.
This savvy new table that combines food with technology, creates a different dining experience by allowing you to finish the dinner and entertain your guests simultaneously. Circular heating elements are positioned directly beneath guests’ plates while cooling elements are placed along the table to keep drinks cold.
The top layer of the SmartSlab is made of SapienStone, a ceramic material that is easy to clean and that integrates heating, cooling and sensor technology directly into oversized ceramic panels. The material is also reportedly impervious to microbes, scratches, fire, frost, and thermal shock. How fascinating, right?
